Bar stocktaking in Namibia, Zimbabwe and the rest of Africa
WeighIt is built in Cape Town and priced in rand. This page covers how a bar, lodge, hotel or event operator in Namibia, Zimbabwe, Kenya or elsewhere outside South Africa gets started, and what to put in your first email.
Does weight-based bar stock taking work outside South Africa?
Yes. Weight is weight: a bottle on a Bluetooth scale gives the same reading in Windhoek, Harare or Nairobi as it does in Cape Town. The method does not depend on where the bar is.
What does depend on location is the logistics: getting the scale to you, paying in a currency that is not yours, and reading results when the owner is not on site. This page is about those.
If you are looking for a liquor inventory app for a bar in Kenya, Namibia or Zimbabwe, WeighIt is an app for iPhone, Android and the web that works with a Bluetooth scale. If you would rather start on paper, there is a free bar stock sheet as an Excel file and a printable PDF, and a pour cost calculator that picks your currency (KSh, N$, US$ and more) from your location, and you can change it.
From first email to first report
Three steps, none of which needs anyone to travel.
You send an enquiry
Tell us the country, the type of venue and how many sites. The enquiry form on the home page or an email to info@eyonasoftware.co.za both work.
The scale is couriered
A compatible Bluetooth scale is included in the setup and couriered to your site. Ask about delivery to your country in your first message.
Your first stock take
We load your products before the scale arrives, and step-by-step guides and video tutorials walk your team through the first count. After that, the monthly output is the variance report against your sales.
Venues where the owner is not always on site
The same product, for three kinds of operator.
Lodges and hotel bars
When stock sits at a remote property, a count that does not depend on who did it, and a report you can read from anywhere, is the point.
Bars and clubs
A single venue gets a faster, more consistent stock take. Groups across several towns can ask about bundled pricing and consolidated reporting.
Event and mobile bars
Stock that moves between sites is the hardest to account for. Ask us how an event or mobile operation would be set up.
What is different outside South Africa
- Prices are quoted in South African rand: R7,500 once-off per site for the setup, then R4,000 per site per month. We do not publish prices in other currencies, so ask how payment works for your country.
- The scale is delivered by courier. Cross-border delivery can involve import duties, taxes and clearing fees that depend on your country. Ask before you commit.
- Support is by email, on Cape Town hours: Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM SAST.
- Results sit in the cloud dashboard, so the owner, a head office or an area manager can read them from anywhere.
What to put in your first email
- Your country and town.
- The type of venue: bar, lodge, hotel, restaurant, club or event operation.
- How many sites you run.
- Roughly how many spirits and liqueur products you stock.
- The POS or till system you use, if any.
With that, we can tell you what delivery and setup would look like for you.
